Local government leadership positions in Uganda are crucial for the development of communities and the country as a whole. Young people can bring new ideas, fresh perspectives, and energy to these positions, making a positive impact on their communities. However, to pursue leadership positions in local government, young people need to know who they should approach for guidance and support.

Here are some of the key individuals and organizations that young people can approach for interest in local government leadership positions in Uganda:

  1. Local council: Local councillors are elected representatives who serve on the local government council specifically, LC1,2,3,4 & 5 respectively. In most cases, persons in these positions are believed to be more informed about proceedings of what transpires in selective communities.They are a valuable guidance and support to young people who are interested in local government leadership.
  2. Community Development Officers: The CDOs are responsible for the overall management and coordination of local government activities and developmental projects focused on bettering the community. Young peoples approach these offices to learn more about the community needs a strong point to consider when preparing to run for office.
  3. NGOs: Today, several youth-led organizations that works to empower young people and promote their participation in decision-making processes are in full existence. As an ambitious leader, identifying such entity is a better prospect to learn and also gain exposure into the field of leadership. The organizations provide training, mentoring, and support to young leaders, helping them to develop the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in local government leadership positions.
  4. Political parties: Political parties in Uganda often have youth wings that are specifically dedicated to engaging young people in politics and governance. Young people can approach these parties to learn more about their policies and programs and seek guidance on how to pursue local government leadership positions.

In conclusion, several individuals/entities do provide guidance, support, and resources to help young people succeed in local government leadership positions and make a positive impact on their communities.
